‘Embers of the heated moana’ by Donna McPherson.

The iconic shellfish pāua is threatened as the moana continues to warm and acidify. Pāua larval growth and kota – shell - development are most affected. This species, like many others with a shell, bring colour to our ocean. As their shells corrode, this colour drains into the embers of the heated moana. The lifeforce of this woven harakeke pāua is flowing into these embers.
